I admire what my sister-in-law does actually ... her daughter asks her questions on her way to school. They spend a little one-on-one time and no matter what she asks, it is never taboo. Her daughter has been asking questions from an early age, gets the truthful answer (in kid terminology) and then went on to ask another question. She now knows how babies are created and it doesn't seem to phase her really ... no uncomfortable silences or distracting objects. She, like most kids, is very fascinated with pregnancy. We are expecting our first in August so we haven't yet begun these discussions with our own child. I'm sure it will be interesting when it does actually occur! Cough cough.Natashanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047945885380439301.post-55270663616016321462010-03-29T19:05:03.686-04:002010-03-29T19:05:03.686-04:00I have a ten year old daughter, and we just had th...I have a ten year old daughter, and we just had the talk a couple months ago. Mortifying, it was. Per her request, I had to sit on the bottom bunk with her on the top bunk and NO eye contact was to be made at any time. Next time, I'm going with a book!Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04136696607366423877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047945885380439301.post-46702558381070422332010-03-29T18:13:12.839-04:002010-03-29T18:13:12.839-04:00love the cartoon!!!!!!!love the cartoon!!!!!!!Michelle Denicolanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047945885380439301.post-27745445437274271032010-03-29T15:39:12.937-04:002010-03-29T15:39:12.937-04:00I haven't given much thought to having "T...I haven't given much thought to having "The Talk" yet. As I look back I don't really think I was every given the talk except for at school where we watched a video and where handed stuff like pads and deodorant. Thank you because now I am going to be worrying about that and what to say and do when that comes up. Note to self keep Popsicles on hand to help avoid that question.a.rungeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16702858423408066742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047945885380439301.post-55651229790674993132010-03-29T15:29:44.991-04:002010-03-29T15:29:44.991-04:00My daughter asked while I was PG with my son how t...My daughter asked while I was PG with my son how the baby would get out...I chickened out and told her the Dr helps. I had what I...Ohhh..I'm SO happy to read this! I had what I describe as my first Mommy blush moment the other day. My 5 year old boy asked me after his bath what where those things hanging below his weewee. I pride (or at least did) myself in giving him the straight up honest answers to any question. So I said, those are your testicles. Phew, easy peasy! Then I got the, well, what are they for?

ERRR.. ummm... Look honey, something shiny!! I didn't want to fib or bamboozle him but I knew the right answer would have more questions that in my ignorance I thought I was ready for at any time!

Leave it to my 5 year old to teach me otherwise!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2047945885380439301.post-35099787147698892762010-03-29T11:58:54.397-04:002010-03-29T11:58:54.397-04:00Good call on not telling the 5 yr old.
